image *Looking for a grant for your small business? Michigan State University Libraries have a useful compilation of webpages and books that may help you, particularly if your company is engaged in research and development.

* Brighton District Library has a powerful software tool that can help you build a professional business plan quickly! The software is called Business Plan Pro. The software is available for you to use at Computer #12 on site at the Brighton District Library; individual reservations on that computer can be made up to a day ahead of your arrival. Contact the Information Desk for more details.

* Useful websites:

Allbusiness - Sponsored by Dun & Bradstreet, the website has timely information for the small business owner;

Business.gov - the official website of the U.S. Small Business Administration, has government forms to help you with each stage of a business start-up;

Entrepreneur - with how-to guides, free sample business plans, a networking tool, business-planning and productivity tools;

Franchising.com - franchising opportunities;

Inventors Resources - the U.S. Patent and Tradematk Office's official site for independent inventors;

SCORE - "Counselors to America's Small Business", SCORE is a national association dedicated to helping small business owners form and develop their businesses. The website provides email and online workshops as well as a finding aid for in-person mentoring.

Did you know?

We've created a comprehensive list of useful employment links to aid in your search. New this year is a free skills-matching website called ejobmate.com developed by a Howell resident and featuring Michigan jobs exclusively.

From the library computers, you can check job postings on the Michigan Talent Bank website, where you can search more than 15,000 new job openings monthly and post your resume so more than 40,000 employers can find it. You also can find information on local job fairs.
